Have you heard of Forest Bathing?🌲It's not actual bathing in water, but immersing yourself in the woods. Being present, noticing the trees, the wildlife, the sounds and the aromas. Forest bathing became an integral part of Japanese preventative health care in the 80s. They discovered that being in a forest lowers blood pressure, reduces stress hormone production and boosts the immune system as well as increasing feelings of well-being. In this meditative visualization, you won't actually be in the forest. Still, I hope to help you experience the next best thing.
This guided meditative visualization is based on The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, which were one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Rising out of the scorching, arid landscape of ancient Babylon, loomed a green mountain made of mud bricks. Lush vegetation cascaded like waterfalls 75ft down the tiered gardens. Orchards of exotic plants and flowers dazzled the eyes, and fragrances wafted through the towering botanical oasis dotted with statues and tall stone columns. Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar II was said to have created the Hanging Gardens in the sixth century B.C. as a gift to his wife, Amytis. She was homesick for the beautiful vegetation and mountains of her native Media. For the desert to bloom, a sophisticated irrigation system would have been needed. Scientists have guessed that a system of pumps, waterwheels and cisterns would have been employed to raise and deliver the water from the nearby Euphrates River to the top of the gardens.
